How to Make a UBE Roll Cake?

Ube Roll is a delicious cake that you make happy. The specialty of this cake is that it comes with buttercream with a roll-shaped cake. What are the Ingredients for UBE roll?

Here are the list of ingredients that needs to make UBE roll.

For the Cake:

  • 1 Cup of Cake flour
  • 1/2 Cup of Sugar
  • 1 or 1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 5 Eggs
  • 3/4 Cup of Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1/4 Cup of Ube Halaya (Ube jam)
  • 1 teaspoon of Ube flavor (purple yam)
  • 1 teaspoon of purple food coloring.
  • 2 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

For the Buttercream Frosting:

  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 3/4 Cup of Sugar
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt
  • 12 tablespoon of softened butter

How to Bake Ube Roll Cake?

There two separate things that we need to make for the Ube Roll cake which is the Cake and Buttercream Frosting. First, we should make the cake and then Buttercream Frosting. Let see how to do it.

How to Make the Cake?

First, you should preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and get a jelly roll baking pan with parchment paper. Do not grease on the pan or the parchment paper.

Take nonreactive bowl and sift Cake Flour, Baking Powder, Sugar, and Salt together.

Then add it to 5 Eggs yolks, Vegetable oil, Milk, Ube Halaya (jam), Ube flavor, and purple food coloring. Just beat them with an electric mixer to combine them.

Next, you have to make a meringue mixture. To do that, get another bowl and add it to 4 eggs whites, cream of tartar and mix them together with an electric mixer until it gets nice and frothy.

Then slowly add it to a cup of sugar and continue beating the mixer. If you see nice and clean white cream when you beating, the meringue mixture is ready.

Now slowly add this meringue mixture to the cake mixture that we made earlier. This mixture should be combine very slowly as I mentioned. Add meringue mixture at one time and mix them until it’s getting well combined.

Then pour this mixture into a jelly roll pan that we prepared and smooth the top using a spatula.

Then bake this mixture in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes that the cake getting springs.

Once it finished the bake, get the cake out. Now you have to get the cake out of the pan. You have to be careful on this process, so follow the guide here. Just take another parchment paper that bigger than the cake and place it over the cake.

Then place a bigger sheet pan over the parchment paper. Next flip everything over and remove the baking pan. Then slowly remove the parchment paper that the cake was baked on. If the cake still warm, you can dust some sugar onto the cake to prevent it from sticking when cake rolling.

Then roll the cake slowly with parchment paper and let it cool with room temperature on a wire rack.

How to Make the Buttercream Frosting?

While the cake is cooling, you can make Buttercream Frosting. Just take another bowl and start beating egg whites with a whisk until frothy. Now add salt, 1 tablespoon sugar, and continue to beating until soft peak form.

Now get another pan and combine water and remaining sugar. Stir it until sugar completely melts. Boil the water to medium heat without stirring it for 2-3 minutes to make a simple syrup.

Once it’s done, remove from the heat and slowly pour the syrup into egg whites while beating constantly until meringue is cool. Add softened butter 1 tablespoon at a time and continue to beating until it’s getting smooth. Yes, you nailed it.

How to Make Ube Roll Cake?

You have made the cake and Buttercream Frosting. Now time to make the Ube Cake Roll. First, unroll the cake that you have made. Spread Buttercream Frosting with a thin layer on the cake and re-roll the cake before.

Now spread some cake dust and Buttercream Frosting around the roll. Then cool it for at least 2 hours on the Refrigerator. After that, you can enjoy your Ube Roll cake.
