Ingredients for Ube Cheese Pandesal

  • 1/4 cup ube powder
  • 150ml warm milk
  • 3/4 cup of hot water
  • 1 medium egg
  • 2-tablespoons sugar
  • 1-tablespoon yeast
  • 3 cups of bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1-tablespoon liquid ube extract (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil plus more for greasing
  • 1 block quick melt cheese (165g) cut into cubes
  • Ube jam/ halaya (can be bought at some stores or you can make at home)
  • 4 tablespoons of Breadcrumbs for coating

Steps to Make

Firstly, put ube powder into a bowl and pour in hot water into it. Now mix until totally rehydrate.

Take another large bowl and add flour, sugar, and salt. Then stir to combine well. Now pour in warm milk and oil. Then add egg, yeast, and mix well again.

Now add the rehydrate ube and ube flavor (if using) combine up to well mixed. After that, the mixture will be very thick so add some butter to it. Now mix until butter is well blended with the dough.

Next, sprinkle some flour on the flat surface that you going to kneading. Now grease your hand and knead the dough for 10-15 minutes or until the dough is stretchy well.

When the kneading is over, form the dough into a ball (round shape) and lightly coat it with oil.
